Let’s build and play musical shakers from recycled materials!
A family workshop in collaboration with GETA-Samtök
Join us for a fun, hands-on workshop where children and their families can build and decorate their own musical shakers using everyday waste materials like plastic bottles, toilet rolls and cardboard. This activity invites participants to explore their creativity while learning about the value of repurposing simple items.
After the instruments are ready, we will end with a guided jam session, where everyone will have a chance to experiment with rhythm and sound together with their newly built shakers. Designed especially for international families, this workshop is perfect for multilingual groups and encourages participation across cultures and languages.
Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own bottles or cartons to use. Facilitated by Natalia Duarte Jeremias, Lisa Mazzocchi and Ríma Naser, who can communicate in Icelandic, English, Spanish, Arabic, Italian, and rhythm! Let’s create instruments and make music together!
